10 Wrestlers Who VANISHED When WWF Became WWE
5. The Godfather
Okay, okay, Charles Wright hasn't completely vanished from the wrestling public consciousness since being fired by WWE in December 2002, but the charismatic powerhouse never again competed on the big stage after that release.
Having spent six months off TV after the disbanding of the Right to Censor, Wright returned under his Godfather persona at the 2002 Royal Rumble. While it was fun to see the big man jiving his way to the ring once more, this return was a relatively short-lived one.
The Godfather would be a featured TV talent for the next few months, but his final WWE in-ring outing would come barely a month after WWF became WWE. Even then, that appearance was only a fleeting one as part of a SmackDown battle royal to crown a new #1 contender for the Undisputed World Heavyweight Title then held by Wright's real-life good pal, the Undertaker.
Despite initially announcing his in-ring retirement following that December 2002 release, Charles Wright would eventually return to action on the indy scene in 2009, and he last competed most recently as 2020.
Across these years, the ho enthusiast has made a handful of WWE appearances - usually at times of marriage proposals or weddings - and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016.
