For a spell in the Attitude Era, each and every episode of Raw programming would have Terri Runnels on it in some form or fashion. Whether as a backstage interviewer, an in-ring talent, as the manager of the Hardy Boyz, as the girlfriend of Perry Saturn, or even appearing under her Marlena guise, Terri was a permanent fixture of WWF TV as the '90s rolled into the 2000s. Of course, those appearances would usually accompanied by Jerry Lawler creepily screaming about "puppies".

Runnels' WWE exit actually came in March 2004, although she had barely been featured on company programming since late-2002.

With more polished workers like Molly Holly, Victoria, Jazz, Trish Stratus and Lita coming to the fore - not to mention the acquisitions of WCW's Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler - Terri's appearances became more and more fleeting throughout '02. In the months after WWF rebranded as WWE, Runnels could be found hosting the final few episodes of the Excess recap show, whilst there were sporadic appearances as a brief love interest for Kane and also as a forced competitor in an Eric Bischoff-created battle royal featuring former Hardcore Champions.

After 15 months off TV, Runnels teamed with Lita in a losing effort against Molly Holly and Gail in November 2003, and was quietly released four months later. Dropping off the face of the wrestling map, Terri made a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance on Raw 25 in 2018, and she's also appeared on Dark Side of the Ring.
