Taz was quite simply one of the hottest commodities on the market back at the turn of the millennium. One quick listen to the monumental pop that met The Human Suplex Machine as he made his jaw-dropping debut at the 2000 Royal Rumble more than confirms that fact.

Unfortunately for the ECW legend, though, his epic arrival and hard work crafting himself into arguably the most believable badass in the business would soon be squandered in one of the most baffling booking decisions ever committed to television.

Once again needing to ensure his stars didn't look like chumps in the face of another company's former top dog, McMahon had Taz do the J.O.B. for The Game on an episode of SmackDown just days after winning the ECW World Championship from Mike Awesome.

And, just like that, a once-formidable aura all-but evaporated as the decorated ECW man later went 50/50 with The King and later became mid-card fodder.

Thankfully, a transition into colour commentary gave the decorated ECW force a new lease on life from 2002 onwards. His recent run as Team Taz's mouthpiece has also helped ease those painful memories of a run even Vinnie Mac admits making a pig's ear out of.
