10 Wrestlers Who Were Pissed As Soon As They Got Backstage
1. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
Given that he debuted in 2007 and won the WWE Championship in 2019, a lot of people think that it took Kofi Kingston 12 years to get the company to take him seriously. Sadly though the truth's even more depressing, as it took them that long to take him seriously again.
After his debut, the company were pretty hot on him and, by 2010 he was rubbing shoulders with the bigger names on his ascent towards the top of the card. He'd pinned CM Punk and Randy Orton at Survivor Series a few months prior, and it looked like even more was to come until one otherwise innocuous episode of Monday Night Raw.
During the finish, Randy Orton got into position to deliver a Punt Kick to Kingston who, in contradiction to the planned finish, stood up and staggered around waiting for an RKO. Orton, realising he needed to improvise, leapt to his feet and duly obliged, only to loudly admonish Kofi in the process with several cries of "stupid!".
Orton's word counted for a lot backstage and, when he hit production still furious, the ensuing fallout all but killed Kofi's push there and then. He was incensed by the mistake and, worse, more than happy to let anybody who'd listen know what he thought about it. It took Kofi until 2019 to have another prominent singles run.
