1. Kofi Kingston

The New Day has revitalised Kofi Kingston's career, and whilst many look to Big E. as being the most likely main event breakout star it could yet be Kofi who benefits first. It would represent the first true main event push for a man who has given a decade of great service to WWE.

It seemed as though Kofi was on his way to the top when feuding with Randy Orton way back in 2009, but when that beef fizzled out it was back to the safety of the belly of the card for Kofi. He has gone on to hold championship gold for more days than anyone in the company not called John Cena, holding titles for 1,339 days with four Intercontinental, three United States and five various tag title reigns.

But Kofi hasn't threatened the top of the card in a long time. Has too much time passed with him in the middle for fans to accept him as a top star? Maybe so. Despite all the negativity a lifetime spot in the middle of a wrestling card isn't to be sniffed at, the position being an important role that takes a heck of a lot of talent to get right.

There is plenty of main event talent in this list, but not so many main events between them all. There is jobber hell, headline heaven, but these men and women know and knew all about midcard purgatory.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
