10 Wrestlers Who Were Stuck In Midcard Purgatory

7. John Morrison

The current Lucha Underground Champion, John Morrison (or Johnny Mundo to modern viewers) looks like a star. The man is built out of steel, is as athletic as any other individual you could care to mention and has finally found a role that he is perfect for. The man looks like a world champion, he looks like a superstar.

WWE didn't quite see it that way however. Morrison was always there or thereabouts in WWE, but the brief moments of hope that made viewers believe a main event push was on the horizon were almost always quickly extinguished. Morrison consistently had great matches in WWE, but every year passed without anything approaching a main event push.

As men mentioned later in the list will show, the longer you wait to push the button or pull the trigger the harder it will be for the masses to accept. By the time Morrison left all goodwill had been lost, and it seemed as though a genuine main event superstar had been left to rot in the midcard.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
