10 Wrestlers Who Were Stuck In Midcard Purgatory

5. Owen Hart

Most pro wrestling experts will agree on one thing; Owen Hart was one of the greatest performers of all time. The younger Hart seemed to have it all, the in-ring talent combined with the character chops and the family pedigree to back it all up. Brother Bret is one of the most decorated pro wrestlers in history, and to this day it seems somewhat ridiculous that Owen didn't join him as a true main event star.

Maybe it was timing that got in the way. Owen was a WWE performer at a strange, transitional time, a time when less opportunities were afforded to the wrestlers. By the time this had changed he had been around a while, and fresher talent like Steve Austin and The Rock quickly passed him in the pecking order.

If Owen Hart had arrived on the scene a little later, the man would almost certainly have won multiple world championships. As it was he won many secondary titles and was always there to make someone above him look good or someone below him look better.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
