10 Wrestlers Who Were Supposed To Get Other Wrestlers Over (But Got Over Themselves)
5. Daniel Bryan (Sheamus)
18 seconds of infamy. That's what Sheamus was best-known for in 2012. Wrestling purists were annoyed by his constant bragging about that quick win over cherished technician Daniel Bryan, and even WWE casuals couldn't believe that the company had booked such a shorty at WrestleMania XXVIII.
If this was supposed to skyrocket Sheamus into the babyface stratosphere, then it failed.
Fans sided with D-Bry instead. That was partly due to his obvious skills inside the ring and partly because everyone loves an underdog. Also, sticking it to the WWE machine for ignoring the obvious (that Bryan was a terrific piece of talent) sounded fun to most at the time.
Post-WrestleMania, Daniel's matches and segments started playing before more and more support. He'd been used as a transitional afterthought as champion and glorified enhancement worker for others, but people began demanding that the promotion take him more seriously.
That created a monster. A "Yes"-shouting, world-class match-having monster.
