Admittedly, some reading will turn their noses up at this one. Give it a chance though, because it's not like Kevin Fertig was the worst worker on the planet. Was he the best? Absolutely not, but his old Mordecai gimmick probably gave most fans the wrong impression.

Mordecai's pay-per-view debut against Scotty 2 Hotty at Judgment Day 2004 wasn't a rip-roaring success. The slow, meandering style of the newcomer turned a lot of people off, and they weren't willing to give it a second chance. Later, Fertig revealed that it might've been a mistake to pretty much lift The Undertaker's original 'zombie' style and present it to a modern audience.

Wrestling had moved on.

This pay-per-view disaster was a hammer blow to Mordecai's prospects. WWE soured on him quickly, then a real-life bar fight gave the company an out. Fertig, as the vampire Kevin Thorn, proved he wasn't awful when working a faster style in ECW years later.
