10 Wrestlers Who Will Define AEW's Future
3. Jungle Boy
At 23 years of age, and with less than 5 years as a pro under his belt, the 150 pound Jungle Boy is the proverbial underdog. But despite his size, and apparent lack of experience, the son of actor Luke Perry was always going to catch the eye of a mainstream wrestling company.
Let's be serious though. WWE would have welcomed Jack Perry with open arms, keen to milk his famous lineage in their constant quest to pop a rating. But once the shine was off their new PR toy, Jungle Boy would have found himself struggling on 205 Live or jobbing to the stars on Main Event. Mercifully, it was AEW who came knocking first.
AEW is not the land of the giants. It is the land of opportunity. At least that's how they like to paint themselves. It is in a company like All Elite that Jungle Boy will be given a fair chance to thrive. He's already incredibly well liked as part of his tag team with Luchasaurus, and there's no reason the company should be in any rush to split the two fan favourites up. In fact, given his youthful appearance, leaving him as a boy with his dinosaur would be the best option for him, and a run with the Tag Team Championships wouldn't hurt either.
Nothing lasts forever though. Eventually Luchasaurus should tire of his friend, setting up a David and Goliath feud that could really give Jungle Boy a chance to shine. By toppling his much bigger foe, Jungle Boy could build himself a Sean Waltman-esque reputation as a smaller wrestler that must never be underestimated. He may not be a future World Champion, but not everyone has to be to be considered a future star. AEW needs solid mid-carders just as much as it needs main event stars. It needs wrestlers like Jungle Boy even more.
