'The Big Red Machine' was already known for absorbing inhumane amounts of punishment long before his WWE Championship scuffle with Stone Cold Steve Austin, but it was taking the Stone Cold Stunner that triggered the moment set to cost 'The Rattlesnake' his treasured title.

A First Blood bout half-conducted in the Hell In A Cell structure used for the show's legendary semi-main between The Undertaker and Mankind was peaking right as Austin dropped 'The Big Red Machine' with his devastating finisher, but it was at this moment that 'The Deadman' returned and accidentally bludgeoned the Champion.

A dazed referee awoke to see Kane down and out but Austin covered in blood. The controversial call was made, and the Undertaker's demonic brother had taken the industry's richest prize. A rematch 24 hours later provided conclusive proof of the Stunner's effectiveness against the monster - he was beaten with it at the climax of another gripping Raw headline bout.
