8. Shawn Michaels
When it was announced that the Royal Rumble would be held in San Antonio, people immediately began to speculate that Shawn Michaels would be competing at the show. Though Michaels hasn't wrestled since WrestleMania 26, a stadium show in his hometown might do the trick, some believed.
Immediately, fans began to dream up images of Michaels versus AJ Styles at the Rumble, but of course, that didn't materialize. At this point, if anyone's holding out hope that HBK will be in the Rumble itself, they're pretty much just kidding themselves. Michaels has been way too busy promoting his new feature film on racists' Internet talk shows and the like, and an appearance from the 51-year-old without any buildup would just be strange.
It certainly wouldn't be surprising to see Michaels make an appearance at the show - perhaps he'll even come down to the ring and speak in front of the crowd - but as for entry into the Rumble match, no chance.
