10 Wrestlers Who'll Become WWE Champions For The First Time In 2017
1. Braun Strowman
Of all the monster heels currently doing the rounds in WWE, Braun Strowman’s career shows the most upside. The former Wyatt Family member has been made to look like the most dominant force in the universe since striking out on his own, and while Braun was unable to put Sami Zayn away at Roadblock: End Of The Line, it wasn’t for a lack of trying.
Strowman has been one of Raw’s most consistently pushed wrestlers since the Brand Split kicked in. He started off by flattening a series of local talents before eventually moving on to Sami Zayn, and if the rumoured Big Show feud comes to fruition, it could be an excellent “passing of the torch” moment for Raw’s new giant.
There’s no getting around it: Braun is going to be a main eventer by 2017’s end. Previously lined-up as a potential WrestleMania 32 opponent for The Undertaker, WWE are only now pulling the trigger on the big man, and his dominance won’t stop until he reaches the top. Whether its United States or Universal, he’ll likely have gold in his grasp at some point next year, and Strowman will become WWE’s most imposing wrestler for the foreseeable future.
Strowman has improved leaps and bounds since leaving The Wyatt Family, and while he still has his limitations, Braun has become an incredibly convincing monster. He’s very smooth for a man of his size, and while not as lightning quick as Michael Cole would have you believe, Braun’s relatively light on his feet. Most important of all, however, is that Braun’s bruising offence genuinely looks like it hurts. He’s the most intimidating wrestler on the roster not named “Brock Lesnar,” and he has a long, gold-filled future ahead of him.
