10 Wrestlers Who'll Become WWE Champions For The First Time In 2017

7. Nia Jax

Nia Jax has been absent from WWE television for several weeks, but the company aren’t just going to forget about one of The Rock’s most notable relatives. She’ll reappear on Raw before long, and when she does, fans can expect Nia to make a huge impact. Charlotte’s feud with Sasha Banks is over, after all, and while Bayley stands at the front of the title shot queue, Nia won’t be far behind.

She’s still very early in her development (Nia only debuted in May 2015), but Jax will likely be fast-tracked to the top. WWE love a monster, and while Nia’s still growing into this role, she brings a unique set of skills to the Raw women’s division. None of her peers can match her size and strength, and while it’ll be awhile before she’s anywhere close to an Awesome Kong or Bull Nakano, there’s a clear niche for Jax to fill.

Her tap-out to Becky Lynch aside, Nia looked great at Survivor Series. Her NXT performances against Bayley and Asuka prove that the right dance partner can drag a decent match from her limited skillset, and this will only improve as her skills continue to develop. Given the lack of competition, it’d be foolish to assume that Nia Jax won’t be Raw Women’s Champion by the year’s end, and she’d make an ideal candidate to snatch it from Bayley, the division’s ultimate underdog, at some point.
