10 Wrestlers Whose Weight Problems Became Gimmicks

6. Super Porky

Once of the lesser-known great families in wrestling is La Dinastia Alvarado, or the Alvarado dynasty. With patriarch Shadito Cruz at the helm, the family has produced over a dozen wrestlers including legends El Brazo, Brazo de Oro, and Brazo de Plata, and current Lucha Libre stars Máximo, La Máscara, and Psycho Clown. With exceptions, the members of the Alvarado family aren't particularly slim, and none is more famous for his girth than Brazo de Plata, who earned the nickname Super Porky in the early 2000s. By then, he was pushing 40 and his best days in the ring were behind him, so the 5'7", 300 pound star embraced his new role and began to use a more comedic in-ring style. Believe it or not, Super Porky caught the eyes of WWE higher-ups, and he was signed for the little person-centric "Juniors Division" (despite not being a little person). Though he never wrestled on TV, he had a memorable cameo eating a ham in Teddy Long's office. After being released from WWE, he returned to success in Mexico.
