10 Wrestlers With The Most Five Star Matches
8. Kazuchika Okada - 7
Current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada is in the midst of perhaps the most impressive in-ring year of his career. It started out with the famous six-star epic against Kenny Omega that set the internet ablaze on 4 January, and continued thereafter, with 'The Rainmaker' putting on classic displays against opponents as diverse as Tiger Mask W (Kota Ibushi) and veteran catch wrestling sadist Minoru Suzuki.
Okada scored a five-star rating for his brutally (and tragically, if it is indeed the last match of his opponent's career) hard-hitting clash with Katsuyori Shibata in April, before he and Omega once again broke Meltzer's rating system in June, earning an unparalleled ******¼ for their rematch. The trilogy was completed just last week, and while the rating is still to be released, the fact that Meltzer has called the series "the best one-year match trilogy of all time" bodes well.
These contests aside, Okada has three further ***** bouts from his legendary feud with Hiroshi Tanahashi, and another with the criminally underrated Tomohiro Ishii in 2016. He has done all this in a period of just over four years, and given that he's still only 29 years of age, he has a great chance of charging towards the five-star match table.
