10 Wrestlers With The Most World Title Reigns

Hold on a minute, what the heck is Jeff Jarrett doing rubbing shoulders with such vaunted company?

Backstage politics, of course!

Like him or not, Jeff Jarrett is, in numerical terms, one of the most successful wrestling champions of all time. He was an eight-time WCW Champion during some of the company’s darkest days, and while TNA’s titles might not come with the same weight, they’re still classed as world championships. Jarrett is a six-time TNA/NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and to top it off, he has a single AAA Mega Championship to his name.

The Undertaker, Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Randy Savage: Jeff Jarrett has more world titles than all of them, but the majority come with a caveat.

Jarrett’s WCW reigns rarely meant anything. They came at a time when the company’s doom seemed all but certain and the booking, particularly at main event level, had become farcical. His combined reigns lasted only 58 days in total, and one came with David Arquette’s assistance in a Triple Cage match at Slamboree 2000.

His TNA skullduggery is well documented. Jeff and his father Jerry established the company, but while they sold the bulk of their shares to the Carter family after just a few months, Jeff remained in a position of power. Often holding the belt for close to a year at a time, Jarrett continually used his authority to hold younger stars down and thrust himself in the spotlight. The main event scene always revolved around him, and Jarrett was rarely defied.
