10 Wrestlers With The Most World Title Reigns

5 (tie). Hulk Hogan (12)

It might come as a surprise to see Hulk Hogan appear so low, particularly given his importance to the business. Hogan was an era-defining wrestler who dominated WWE and WCW’s main event scenes for years, and only Bruno Sammartino can top his 2,185 days spent as WWE Champion. The Hulkster’s long career has brought 12 world title reigns (six in WWE, and six in WCW), but he’ll never have the chance to push further up the list.

His first (and most notable) title reign started in January 1984, when he toppled The Iron Sheik to become WWE Champion. Hulk went on to hold the belt for an insane four-year stretch before eventually dropping it to Andre the Giant, but he reclaimed it from Randy Savage at WrestleMania V, and enjoyed many reigns thereafter.

Hogan transitioned to WCW and was immediately pushed to prominence with the company. His turn to join the nWo would revitalise his ailing career and prove a big turning point in the Monday Night Wars, and he spent well over 1,000 days as WCW Champion prior to leaving under a cloud of controversy in 2000.

The Hulkster’s 2002 WWE return brought a four-week title reign. It’ll likely go down as the last of Hogan’s glittering career, and regardless of your opinion on the guy’s personality and reputation, his track record is hard to deny.
