10 Wrestlers With The Most World Title Reigns
5 (tie). Randy Orton (12)
Three wrestlers share fifth place on our list, and at the age of 36, Randy Orton will likely find himself with plenty of opportunities to advance further by the time his career ends. For now, The Viper has 12 world title reigns to his name, all of them coming in WWE, and he goes down in history as the last ever World Heavyweight Champion following its 2013 merger with the WWE Title.
Aged just 24, Orton made history at SummerSlam 2004 when he defeated Chris Benoit to become the youngest world champion in WWE. He’d then establish himself as a regular fixture in WWE’s main event scene, and while he’s drifted in and out of title contendership since, few can match his record of success.
Orton’s first reign was quickly shelved as reports of backstage immaturity and a poor attitude circulated, but these didn’t hamper him in the long run. Three years after winning his first world title, Orton was awarded the WWE Championship by Vince McMahon at No Mercy 2007. He immediately lost it to Triple H, but won it back from The Game in a Last Man Standing match that very same night.
Orton’s final run as champion came with the 2013 merger. He might be preoccupied with Bray Wyatt at the moment, but don’t bet against him reappearing in the title scene sooner or later.
