10 Wrestlers With The Worst Motivations

2. Kevin Nash Sends Texts To Himself

It still doesn’t make any sense.

Only WWE could take a generation-defining promo by CM Punk and turn it into a feud between Triple H and Kevin Nash about text messages that may or may not have been sent. WWE’s so-called Summer of Punk could have created a new megastar and saved the company from the creative doldrums it remains in today. Instead, the Summer of Punk bled into the Autumn of Apathy.

To remind the reader, although the reader may not be so happy with that, Kevin Nash returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2011. He did so by attacking CM Punk after the main event, allowing Alberto Del Rio to cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase and become WWE Champion. The following night on RAW, Nash claimed that he had been put up to it all by Triple H, who had sent a text to Nash telling him to ‘stick it’ to the winner.

Triple H denied it all. Somehow, the story got even more ridiculous, and it transpired that Nash had broken into Hunter’s office, stolen his phone and sent a text message to himself. Umm, okay? Nash went on to say that he couldn’t sit by and listen to Punk badmouth Triple H’s family. That didn’t make much more sense.

The Summer of Punk should have been a tide-turner for WWE. Kevin Nash sending text messages to himself does not a boom period make.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
