10 Wrestlers WWE Are Currently Dropping The Ball With

5. Tyler Breeze

Just like The Vaudevillains, Tyler Breeze is another wrestler whose tremendous success and popularity in NXT has failed to translate to the main roster, and none of it is his fault.

While always considered a step or two behind the likes of Neville and Sami Zayn in terms of potential, Breeze was a staple in NXT’s main event scene throughout his run. Regularly involved in some of the brand’s top storylines and matches (particularly his TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way showdown with Neville, Zayn, and Tyson Kidd), Breeze is now condemned to a career of irrelevance at the foot of SmackDown’s tag team scene.

A natural heel with a flashy wrestling style and excellent microphone skills, WWE creative have failed Breeze by now adapting his cocky model gimmick for a wider audience. Take The Miz as an example: his deluded Hollywood jet-setter character is at the core of everything he does, but he’s given enough camera time to develop his personality and grow beyond the gimmick. Miz is more than just a flashy B movie superstar, but Breeze is just a pouting, selfie-taking model, and that’s the issue.

Teaming with Fandango does Tyler Breeze no favours at all. Like The Miz, Breeze could easily become a heel lynchpin in either the United States or Intercontinental title scene, but it seems WWE have no idea how to extend his character beyond its basic premise.
