10 Wrestlers WWE Fans Were Convinced Would Become Megastars (But Didn't)

The current WCPW Internet Champion, Cody Rhodes could almost be considered an example of the perfect WWE wrestler.

Cody was born into the business, works excellently as either a heel or a face, can put on good to great matches in a variety of styles, and is all sorts of handsome to boot. The man exudes superstardom, the aura of a performer born to wear suits and represent companies.

This may yet come to pass in WWE, but as of right now Cody Rhodes' WWE potential remains unfulfilled. The Grandson of a Plumber won a number of titles during his time in the company, but world championships and main event status consistently evaded him. There was a moment in the autumn of 2013 where it seemed as though WWE had a major babyface star on their hands, but six months later that momentum was lost under unnecessary make-up and gesticulations.

Who is to blame for Cody Rhodes not becoming a major headlining star in WWE? In such situations compelling arguments can usually be made for both sides, but in this instance it seems as though WWE were unwilling to run with Cody as anything other than a midcard stalwart and a good hand.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
