10 Wrestlers WWE Gave Up On In 2016

Neville’s 2015 wasn’t exactly a roaring success, but 2016 was the year WWE finally gave up on the high-flying Geordie. He has become a near mythical presence, and while he started the year by challenging Kalisto for the United States Championship, he barely even appears on Raw anymore.

Neville suffered a nasty ankle injury while wrestling Chris Jericho back in March, but he seemed like a dead cert for the revived Cruiserweight Division. Neville, after all, is one of the best all-round wrestlers on the roster, and his familiarity made him an excellent candidate to play a leading role as the division re-established itself.

Bewilderingly, Neville has been completely omitted from the division, and there are no signs of him entering it anytime soon. This would be an easier pill to swallow if WWE had other plans for him on Raw, but they don’t: he’s only been used half a dozen times since returning from injury in July, and he’s currently MIA.

If WWE hadn’t given up on Neville, he’d be starring on 205 Live right now. Sure, he might not be the most charismatic performer on the roster, but he has always been an excellent wrestler. He’d absolutely shine on WWE’s newest brand, but that’s not happening anytime soon.
