10 Wrestlers WWE Gave Up On In 2016

4. Paige

Paige has been one of WWE’s most newsworthy superstars this year, but not for feats accomplished in the ring. Her injury troubles, two Wellness Policy violations and engagement to Alberto Del Rio have made Paige a regular headline-maker throughout 2016’s second half, but her future prospects with the company have never looked more uncertain.

WWE seemingly lost interest in pushing Paige long before all this, though. Last year’s Divas Championship feud with Charlotte was a complete disaster (particularly when WWE decided that taunting Charlotte’s deceased brother would be a good idea), and Paige barely featured in 2016’s early stages. She’d go missing for weeks at a time, and while she was able to beat Charlotte twice in the summer, she hasn’t been seen on television since June 27th.

Paige has gone from a divisional centerpiece to a complete afterthought. The Women’s Revolution has completely passed her by, and while the likes of Charlotte and Sasha Banks soar, Paige is nowhere to be found. She’s still injured, but after her recent removal from Raw’s opening montage, it’s tough to say where she goes from here. An ideal world would see her make a full recovery and become a staple in the women’s division once again, but who knows how much goodwill Paige lost through her two suspensions.
