With Marty Jannetty, it's a case of which one of his many hirings did WWE regret the most.

The hiring that we're going to showcase here, is the 2005 re-hiring of Jannetty. After nearly a decade out of the company, the former Intercontinental Champion resurfaced as part of Shawn Michaels' WrestleMania 21 rivalry with Kurt Angle.

Marty had left the company back in 1996, and upon turning up at Michaels' side in '05 it looked as if the undeniably talented Jannetty hadn't missed a step. And that's so often been the problem with Marty Jannetty.

There has never been any question over just how good Marty Jannetty is between the ropes. A true revolutionary, the stuff he and Shawn were doing as The Midnight Rockers, The Rockers, and even in their post-Rockers feud holds up to this day as some phenomenal work.

For Jannetty, it was often his out-of-ring antics that put the brakes on any in-ring momentum.

During that 2005 re-hiring, fans saw Marty and Shawn have a grin-inducing reunion as The Rockers before Jannetty and Angle tore it up in a near-20-minute contest. Once 'Mania was out of the way, Marty was officially hired by WWE with the idea of him serving as a mentor figure for young talents on the rise.

WWE was left to rue that decision almost immediately, when Marty was arrested for a DUI and for driving without a license - which prompted the company to fire him only a matter of weeks into his return.

Marty Jannetty would actually be re-hired another two times in 2006. Both brief spells, both ending in Jannetty's firing.
