10 Wrestlers WWE Protected In The WORST Way Possible
7. Randy Orton Can Get Away With Anything
See above for a handsome young buck who knows he can (reportedly) defecate in someone's bags backstage one minute, then relish in the glory of a World Title push the next. That sentence isn't there to make light of Randy Orton's alleged horrendous backstage behaviour when he was rising up the ranks towards superstardom, but it's fascinating to see it laid out like that.
WWE chiefs were ready, willing and able to turn a blind eye to Randy's sophomoric, sometimes dreadful actions because he was such a fabulous prospect. So, even amidst reports of him bullying certain female talent or generally acting like a high school jock who was somehow still the teacher's pet, Orton was pushed to the moon time and time again regardless.
Even John Cena has gone on record to say that "new Randy" wouldn't have liked the "old Randy". Yep, Orton has matured and changed for the better. Today, he's one of Triple H's most trusted lieutenants, and there's no doubt he'll have a spot backstage if he wants it once he hangs up his boots. Rightly so, by the way, 'cause Randy has vast experience by this point in his life/career.
However, WWE taught him that he could do almost anything he liked then take a quick slap on the wrist before raking it in by working pay-per-view main events. It must've been endlessly frustrating for those who were well-behaved and talented but couldn't match the onscreen hype and riches that Mr. RKO was feasting on.
Protecting a bully makes someone complicit. Thankfully, Randy isn't like that anymore.
