Check out this quick list of accomplishments: Alberto Del Rio won the 2011 Royal Rumble, 2011 Money In The Bank, and was a two-time United States, World Heavyweight and WWE Champion across two stints on the main roster between 2010-2016. Basically, WWE strapped a rocket to his ass.

Despite that, he didn't quite become the top latino star McMahon craved.

A natural heel, Del Rio lacked a connection to the audience whenever he played babyface. It was evident by the way he was booked as a baby that WWE saw Eddie Guerrero. Sadly for them, fans saw a pale imitation who, whilst undoubtedly solid between the ropes, didn't possess that cheeky charm or immense star quality Guerrero did.

Del Rio's push was starting to dry up by the time he was fired for "unprofessional conduct" in August 2014. A return around one year later started promisingly but fizzled out again when Alberto became a background figure in the second-rate 'League Of Nation's faction.
