10 Wrestlers WWE Realised Weren't 'The Man'

5. Big Show

There's a reason why WWE decided to play up to Big Show's natural zest for comedy and quit trying to push him as some unstoppable, André The Giant-style monster heel as soon as 2000. According to The Wrestling Observer back when Show signed in 1999, Vinnie Mac believed he could book the giant better than WCW.

Hmm.

Less than one year in, Show was already shunted down the pecking order and dressing up as a Hulk Hogan parody to pop the boys. That followed a botched attempt to add some humanity to the larger-than-life giant by booking him to lose his father (something that had legit happened a few years prior) and fend off Boss Man's cruel jokes about that death.

Show hadn't become the next André at all. He'd recover enough to become an important figure for close to 20 years, but didn't quite vindicate McMahon's claims that WCW never knew what to do with him. As it turned out, neither did he.
