It wasn't all that uncommon for "The Man Beast" to show up as WWF enhancement talent as a younger man. In his early-twenties, several years before bursting onto the ECW scene with his nostrils flaring, the not-yet Rhyno made several appearances as job fodder, in this case as part of a six-man tag for an episode of WWF Shotgun taped on June 23 in his native Detroit.

Working under the name Terry Richards, Rhyno and two other men put over The Truth Commission, a debuting stable of South African apartheidists, for the weekend B-show.

Later in the year, Rhyno's running buddies Edge and Christian would make their own mark through some pre-show matches, with Edge getting picked up fairly quickly, and Christian getting hired close to a year later.
