10 Wrestlers You Didn't Realise Wrestled For WWE In 1997
4. Jerry Lynn
The death-metal loving Lynn had carved out a dependable niche for himself as an underrated worker that could both take to the air and wrestle a scientific masterpiece at the drop of a hat. His matches with fellow Minnesotan Sean Waltman in the early-nineties remain the stuff of legend, and were ahead of their time. Why WCW put Lynn under a mask as "Mr. JL" is anyone's guess.
Lynn had a cup of coffee with the WWF in 1997, performing on a taping of "Friday Night's Main Event" that August, for shows that would air during Raw's brief hiatus for US Open tennis coverage.
Lynn worked with, who else, TAKA Michinoku in a spirited TV match. Within a month, Lynn would be working for ECW, where he would take part in some of his most famous matches.
