10 Wrestlers You Didn’t Realise Wrestled For WWE In 1999

6. George 'The Animal' Steele

The late 'Animal' was considered a complete relic during the frenetic and past-quashing Attitude Era, but the real-life Jim Myers had retained a certain prestige with WWE fans thanks to occasional appearances on Monday Night Raw over the years in comedy battles with Jerry Lawler and various other lower card heels.

By 1999, Steele could offer very little to the product, but made up the numbers as a member of The Oddities alongside Kurrgan, Golga and The Giant Silva.

Originally cast as misanthropic heels alongside The Jackyl, The Oddities were sharply turned babyface via a brief alignment with Sable in the Summer of 1998. The gimmick was almost instantly reduced to pure comedy, but encounters with hodgepodge heel groups filled out cards with a crowd pleasing act long after the group were almost invisible on Monday Night Raw.

Alongside his odd squad, Steele wrestled twice in 1999 in C-show television battles against Skull, 8-Ball, Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor. Remarkably, he even managed to earn a singles clash with Droz during a January edition of Sunday Night Heat, but the former 'Puke' easily defeated his much older foe.
