Nominated For: Best Original Song

The Rock might today be the biggest crossover from wrestling into the world of film, but once upon a time there was one much bigger. And we mean that quite literally.

Andre the Giant, already a cultural phenomenon in his own right, started straining the boards in the late-'70s, appearing in a handful of generic action flicks and, oddly, Dudley Moore rom-com Micki & Maude, before earning plaudits for his most memorable turn as gentle giant Fezzik in Rob Reiner's fantasy flick The Princess Bride.

The Boss was so proud of his part in the film that he carried a copy of it in his considerable palms wherever he went. Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler was similarly satisfied: his song Storybook Love scooped the Best Original Song gong at the 60th Academy Awards.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
