10 Wrestlers You Didn't Realise Wrestled For WWE In 1996

9. Tekno Team 2000

Tekno Team 2000 made their debut in the summer of 1995, wowing all and sundry with their futuristic moves and shiny gear. Troy and Travis were from the future, kind of, attacking the ring with an energy that far outstripped the sluggish pace of their opponents, most of whom were stuck in the here and now. Actually, none of that is really accurate, except for the date and the shiny gear. Tekno Team 2000 was one of a million ideas that Vince McMahon had in 1995, a bevy of creative quirks that have their own place in the miserable annals of pro wrestling history. The duo had three televised matches and that was that.

That was that until 1996, however. Tekno Team 2000 made a very brief return in late 1996, albeit in jobber form. Travis and Troy came up short in consecutive weeks against The Smoking Gunns, The Godwinns and The Body Donnas, proving once and for all that the tag team division was much stronger in 1996 as opposed to '95.

The duos' matches were nothing to write home about, but I fully endorse watching the above video. Why? Well, Billy and Bart vs. Travis and Troy isn't exactly a classic, but that WWF Superstars video into has to be among the most magnificent in the history of this business.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
