10 Wrestlers You Had No Idea Wrestled On TNA One Night Only
8. Funaki
We all know him as SmackDown's number one ring announcer, but on two separate occasions, Funaki was an Impact Wrestling star.
Both going down in 2013, the former Kaientai man first entered a Hardcore Gauntlet Battle Royal, alongside other luminaries of the 'Land of the Extreme' in Shark Boy, Crimson, and Sam Shaw (now NXT's Dexter Lumis). Secondly, he partnered with Petey Williams as part of the international team in the 2013 World Cup, losing a dull affair to Aces & Eights' DOC and Knux.
Why did either of these matches happen? Who the f*ck knows.
If we had to pick them apart, the tag match was easily the better of the two matches. Funaki got in some offence against the wannabe gang members, almost garnering a win for himself and 'The Canadian Destroyer' off a crossbody. It took a hammer to the head to keep him down, so at least he looked strong, right?
As it pertains to One Night Only, Funaki's involvement was done strictly because he's a name you recognise. When you see him, you think, "Oh, I recognise him!", and that's it, you're hooked. This era of Impact was the company at its worst.
