Never one to shy away from having a bit of fun at the expense of those who live to fantasise about a star's future online, Randy Orton set the ol' Interweb on fire back in October 2019 by posing next to an "Elite" sign and captioning an Instagram post with the words "tick tock tick tock".

This, of course, turned out to be nothing more than exactly that; a bit of cheeky fun. And in the years since his All Elite tease Orton has since penned a new deal with his long-time employers and appears to be settling down to see out the rest of his in-ring days as an integral part of World Wrestling Entertainment.

As recently as this year's WrestleMania 38 weekend, The Viper would also comment on said AEW wink on The Pat McAfee Show, stating:

"That was just… the internet and everybody… and I just kinda sat back and was like, ‘Oh this is interesting, I never said that’. Here I am, my contract’s up in a couple of years, and I’ll sign another one. I love this place. I love getting to do s**t like this."

With Orton looking forward to "10 more WrestleManias" before his time in the ring is done, a one-time mouth-watering All Elite ship looks to have all but officially sailed.
