10 Wrestling Books That Proved Seriously Controversial

1. Diana Hart - Under The Mat

Mick Foley Flair Book
Fenn Publishing Company

Unquestionably the most controversial book featured on this list, Diana Hart's 2001 memoir Under The Mat was so contentious that legal action was pursued by Owen Hart's widow in response to the claims made about her family throughout.

As the youngest daughter of Stu Hart and ex-wife of Davey Boy Smith, Diana had certainly spent enough time around the wrestling industry to warrant writing a book on her experiences, but the resulting work serves only to highlight the divisions that existed within wrestling's most famous family following the tragic death of Owen.

The book not only contains a litany of grammatical errors but also has been criticised for including a fictionalised version of events that have been rubbished by those involved.

Diana has disowned the book in recent years and claimed that she wishes it had never been written, but the damage is already done. The title ultimately offers more of an insight into the motivations of Diana herself at that time, rather than a serious account of the family.
