10 Wrestling Books That Proved Seriously Controversial
2. Ric Flair - To Be The Man
Unlike many of the books on this list, Ric Flair's ghostwritten autobiography isn't poorly written, nor is it a boring read. In fact, To Be the Man is a fascinating tale of one of wrestling's most storied performers and unlike many of the WWE-produced titles on this list, does not hold back in discussing some of the debauchery surrounding Flair's younger life.
However, To Be the Man earned its place on this list for Flair's penchant for taking shots at his fellow athletes, including a tirade claiming that Bret Hart was too formulaic in his wrestling and that he was not a draw during his time as WWF Champion in the '90s.
Most famously, Flair referred to Mick Foley as a "glorified stuntman" and compared Foley's ability as a worker to the likes of Brutus Beefcake and the Ultimate Warrior.
The feud between the two men would spill over backstage at RAW in 2004 where Flair reportedly punched Foley after Foley had refused to shake Flair's hand due to his comments.
