10 Wrestling Careers Damaged By WWE Backstage Politics

8. Dean Douglas

Dean Douglas helped to build the house of extreme brick by brick, but when he left ECW for the financially greener pastures of the WWF in 1995, he wasn't so warmly welcomed. Some may argue that Dean's second WWF run didn't go well as he was stuck with the stupid college dean gimmick, but the WWF didn't seem reluctant to push him as he was soon in the Intercontinental Title picture. Douglas himself argues that his release and critical loss to Razor Ramon for the title was purely due to the influence of The Kliq, which is likely. It's hard to believe a lot of the things that Shane Douglas has to say in the modern era, but back then he was a talent with a lot of potential and talent. It's not hard to picture a reality in which things went differently and Dean Douglas became a WWF star, for a least a few years. Whether he was destined for better things there or not, it's clear that the Kliq definitely succeeded in driving him back to the more friendly territory of ECW.
