10 Wrestling Careers We Wish Had Lasted Longer

2. Daniel Bryan

Is it still too soon to bring this one up? It was only three years ago that Daniel Bryan, having main evented WrestleMania XXX where he lifted the WWE Championship in front of his army of adoring fans, was tipped to be the face of the company for the next decade.

Things didn't go according to plan, and health concerns mean that the SmackDown GM has probably wrestled his last match for WWE (even if he doesn't seem to have completely closed the door on performing for one of its competitors). Like Punk, the timing of his retirement was particularly galling for the purists among us: Kevin Owens made his main roster bow just a month after Bryan wrestled his last match, with Sami Zayn and (most agonisingly) AJ Styles soon to follow. Fate really is a cruel mistress.
