10 Wrestling Characters Played By Multiple Wrestlers
9. Sting (Steve Borden/Jeff Farmer)
Steve Borden has been wrestling under the moniker of Sting since 1986 and has made a lot of memories and money with the character.
However, for one night in 1996, his claim to the name came under threat.
In the early days of the New World Order, WCW wrestlers were constantly questioning each other's loyalties. Lex Luger accused his friend Sting of being in cahoots with the evil group, when a man who looked like him attacked Luger in the parking lot.
To be fair, that's a pretty good reason to be suspicious.
At Fall Brawl, Sting seemingly turned on the good guys by joining the NWO's team in War Games. However, the plot thickened when a second Sting came out to join the fray!
Whaaaaaaaa?
It turned out that the first Sting was Jeff Farmer, a wrestler hired by the NWO to portray the Stinger and convince his friends that he'd betrayed them. The plan worked, as the real Sting left the match in disgust to allow fake Sting to tap out Luger for the win.
After Fall Brawl, Farmer would take on the mantle of "NWO Sting" and wrestled using the gimmick as recently as 2019.
