10 Wrestling Characters That Had The Plug Pulled On Them Immediately

9. Mordecai

Mordecai had three televised matches in WWE: defeating Scotty 2 Hotty, defeating Hardcore Holly and losing to Rey Mysterio in four minutes on SmackDown. That fluke loss seems to have been so painful to his psyche that he quit the wrestling business forever.

Mordecai was a man who hated sinners, and he was coming to SmackDown to punish every single sinner out there! Sadly, we never saw him battle Vince McMahon himself.

The bummer about Mordecai is that WWE spent a lot of time hyping up the dude, and didn’t even use him for his intended purpose: a feud with The Undertaker. It was just a baffling decision to not run that match a single time, and instead they had Rey be the one to go over on him, and chase him out of the company.

It was complete madness, but reports of Kevin Fertig's outside-the-ring exploits (he got into a bar fight which resulted in a lawsuit) could go some ways to explaining the quick dropping of the character.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
