10 Wrestling Characters Which Just Aren’t Working Right Now

8. Cesaro

Current Character: Sidekick Wrestling Purist

Like Nakamura, Cesaro has been relegated to the background during his time with the Artist Collective and his next level ability between the ropes has been used for nothing more than the odd filler SmackDown match or to cause helpful interference for the group's manager Sami Zayn.

It did look as though Cesaro was set to double down on his 'Wrestling Purist' shtick in 2019, as he reminded everyone just how formidable an opponent he was against the likes of Ricochet and Rey Mysterio on Raw. Yet, the supremely talented 'Swiss Superman' soon found himself in the role of bit part player again in 2020 on SmackDown and something needs to change.

Future Character: The Benchmark

Cesaro doesn't need too much tweaking, just wind him up and let him bloody wrestle.

When he's given twenty minutes in front of a half awake crowd, Cesaro proves exactly how valuable a commodity he is every single time. As a nice callback to his days teaming with Sheamus as 'The Bar', allowing Cesaro to become 'The Benchmark' could lead to a fantastic 'Beat The Benchmark' challenge on SmackDown each and every week.

Who wouldn't want to see that?
