8. Japanese Wrestlers All Practice "Strong Style"

Of WWE's current Japanese contingent - comprised of Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, Hideo Itami, and Akira Tozawa - only Nakamura can really be said to wrestle the classic Strong Style.

That explains his nickname, but it doesn't explain why even commentators within WWE sometimes insist on applying the same description to any wrestler who hails from the East.

You see this happen less often when it comes to Mexican wrestlers and lucha libre, which is viewed as an altogether distinct style commonly associated with pint-sized mask-wearing wrestlers and not necessarily, for example, Alberto Del Rio.

All that referring to all offence used by Japanese wrestlers as Strong Style really accomplishes is to minimise how unique the offence used by Nakamura is. Given that his promos are still a work in progress, that's something the company perhaps can't afford to do.
