10 Wrestling Facts That Sound Weird (But Are Somehow True)

2. Steve Austin Never Defended The WWE Championship At WrestleMania

That man again, and the only other star in wrestling history who really rivals Hulk Hogan as the most popular name the business has ever seen, Steve Austin also holds a pretty strange WWF Championship record.

Much like Hogan, 'Stone Cold' very much found himself near the top of the card and fighting over World title gold throughout his time as a white-hot poster boy during the Attitude Era. And he inevitably ended up closing out his fair share of WrestleManias during the late '90s and early 2000s.

However, despite holding the WWF Championship up high at the end of three of his four WrestleMania main event showings, this icon never actually defended the top prize in the industry at the biggest event of the year.

He conquered The Rock twice to lift the gold at 'Manias XV and X-Seven, and picked up his first WWF title at WrestleMania XIV against Shawn Michaels. In other words, every time he fought with the title on the line at that massive event, he competed as a challenger and had a 100% record.

Gimme a hell yeah!

And if you want another crazy fact, Austin never actually won the strap on a PPV that wasn't WrestleMania, too.

Oh, and Austin's frequent dance partner, The Rock, never actually won the top belt at 'Mania either, instead always being the man to drop it once WrestleMania season came around.
