A show laden with classic names such as John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker and Rey Mysterio like the Greatest Royal Rumble was would have been perfect for Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. Instead of calling a match however, the iconic pair were flown all the way out to Saudi Arabia for some talking head comments as part of the pre-show.

That's something Ross regrets.

On his Ross Report podcast, JR said that he desperately wanted to call even one match on the card with Lawler, and he also believes it would've given Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton some much needed rest; the six-hour broadcast didn't allow for toilet breaks, and that's something Ross used as part of his argument.

To Jim, the pre-show spot was a wasted opportunity. He and Lawler would have been ideal to call the titular 50-man match. That's certainly what fans thought when both were announced as being part of the show in weeks beforehand.
