Despite some social media comments you may have seen claiming the contrary, common sense dictated that Chris Jericho (a long-standing WWE lieutenant) would tell Vince McMahon of his plans to wrestle Kenny Omega in Japan before it went public. Jericho did, and called his boss a full 6 weeks before news broke on the Wrestle Kingdom match.

It'd be easy to imagine McMahon might blow a gasket, remind Y2J where his loyalties should lie and throw down the phone in a fit of rage. Vince didn't, and instead chuckled with delight, telling Jericho he was "excited" to see what he could do. In other words, McMahon knew Chris was trying to push the WWE name elsewhere.

Jericho told this story to Busted Open Radio. He said there was no way he'd go behind McMahon's back, because that'd be a stupid, risky move. Instead, Jericho felt it best to be honest about his plans and get the man he considers a friend on board with the marquee match.

We're just blown away that Vince McMahon is excited to see a Kenny Omega match.
