Typically, we as wrestling fans imagine that tag-teams are close behind the scenes, travel together and love being a team. That wasn't the case with The Vaudevillains at all. Simon Gotch and Aiden English didn't even ride together on the road, and they weren't all that thrilled about the prospect of being a long-term tag project.

Gotch revealed this during an appearance on the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast, and said that he was more comfortable travelling with guys like Sami Callihan and Chad Gable. Meanwhile, English rode with Sami Zayn, Scott Dawson and others he knew from the old FCW days. In other words, The Vaudevillains were far from close and hardly friends.

Things got worse when the team progressed to the main roster. The pressure was on, and Gotch found that he and English rarely pulled in the same creative direction. That explains why they were less-than-impressive after trading NXT for SmackDown.
