Having grown into one of the most dependable singles stars on the entire WCW roster between 1998-2000, it must have been agonising for Booker T to hear that Vince Russo wanted him to use an old gimmick he'd worked in the early-90s.

Suddenly, popular babyface Booker became hard-working military man GI Bro, bro.

DDP told Steve Austin on the latter's podcast that he couldn't believe Booker's positive attitude even when handed such an ill-fitting gimmick in 2000. One day, before a show, Page walked in on Booker painting his face and remarked that his new friend (DDP also said he and Book didn't get close until right before this time) had been dealt a bad hand.

Firing back, Booker told Page that he'd been "digging ditches" and "mopping floors" before making a name for himself in the wrestling biz. Then, he hit out with a line that was music to DDP's ears: "I’m just going to keep working till I get over".

As soon as he heard that, Page respected Booker even more and knew he'd be a success.
