Last week, it was revealed that some of Billy Gunn's friends told him they "knew he was gay" during the whole Billy & Chuck tag-team run. The impact that character and eventual wedding angle had on Billy's friends was one thing, but it was also keenly felt in the everyday lives of his family.

Gunn's son, Austin, was briefly bullied at school because of it.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet for WSVN-TV, Austin remembered Billy sitting him and other family members down to remind them that the WWE gimmick wasn't real. Though that was something he appreciated his father doing even then, it didn't stop Austin from being teased by other kids at school.

At times, he had to defend what was happening on WWE television by pointing out that he also had a mother and that the character his dad played on SmackDown wasn't real life. Specifically, Austin remembers kids saying things like, "Your dad's gay" and, "Your dad's kissing another dude".
