WrestleMania 2000 was a milestone moment for Edge and Christian. In a Three-Way Ladder stunt show against The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz, they won their first WWE Tag Team Titles. A few weeks earlier, that hadn't been the plan at all. Instead, the childhood pals made good almost split up.

During an appearance on Sean Mooney's Prime Time podcast, Edge said that creative were keen on both going their separate ways prior to 'Mania. That was in the pipeline until a fateful, rather random guest commentary spot on Raw one evening.

After seeing the chemistry both men shared, the writers realised they were making a mistake by splitting two guys up who were so entertaining.

They hadn't banked on either having so much personality, and promptly scrapped plans for a split immediately. That suited Edge and Christian. They'd always wanted to have a shot at winning the tag belts together, and they managed to do it on the biggest show of the year.
